Caitlin Cardwell

Caitlin has been at the firm since 2001, taking a short break in 2003-2005 to complete the Bar Course, before returning to us where she has since developed her expert knowledge across all types of sexual offences.

Caitlin works almost exclusively in our Crown Court department, dealing with all aspects of matters that are sent to the Crown Court and assisting our clients in the preparation of their case from start to finish.

Having over 24 years’ experience in Crown Court work, Caitlin has a very detailed working knowledge of the Court process and relevant law and uses this to assist our clients in dissecting the evidence and making decisions as to how to progress their case.

Whilst Caitlin does deal with all types of cases that come before the Crown Court, including murder, manslaughter, robbery and other serious offences, she has developed a speciality in dealing with sexual offences and shows a depth of knowledge and sensitivity in the preparation of these cases that is evident from the many serious matters she has worked on over the years.

Even when facing such difficult and challenging charges, clients are able to feel at ease with Caitlin due to her considerable experience in this area and feel safe in the knowledge that their case is being dealt with by someone who is skilled at dealing with this very specialised area of law to an extremely high level.

Caitlin also provides advice and assistance to those who are to be interviewed by the Police regarding sexual offences, including representation for interviews in some circumstances, or who are awaiting a charging decision and wish to obtain expert advice as to the investigation process, bail decisions, tech devices investigation, charging criteria and what the possible outcomes may be if charging does or does not happen. Meetings with Caitlin at this stage, which can be via Zoom or Teams if preferred, allow clients to obtain detailed knowledge of the processes they may face going forward in a clear and understandable way.
